Local Projects

Since 1953 when the Rotary Club of Daylesford was chartered we have always particpated in community affairs and served establishments, groups and individual in many ways. We have staged fundraising events and then donated funds to worthy local projects, we have participated in hands on work to improve and extend facillities in our community and we have sponsored and supported groups and individuals so that they could realise their goals, participate in experiences to extend their knowledge and personal skills and to assist them to achieve in areas beyond our community.

Recently we have awarded student and sport scholarships, provided educational assistance, conducted Mock Job Interviews with Year 10 and 11 students, distributed Literacy Packs to all families of new borns, presented Numeracy Packs to all 4 year olds in the Shire, made community donations to Hepburn Health initiatives, assisted with environmental infrastructure, developed and installed History Information Boards and assisted  and  supported other community groups and events. through joint participation and the erection of marquees for their use. In particular we have  focussed on extending the experiences and horizons of our youth, including the sponsorship of Meg our overseas youth exchange student and the attendance of interested and gifted students at Science & Environmental Study Camps, Leadership & Team Building Seminars  and Arts events. We have also encouraged and supported local children and youths to achive in their chosen sports.

Vocational Awards

  Rotary Club Of Daylesford Vocational Australia Day Awards

Each year in December our Club invites community members to nominate  local businesses, employees and Trainees/Apprentices for these awards which reward individual endevour, occupation skill and expertise, enthusiasm, customer service and personal drive that leads to success. The Awards are announced at the Shire Function on the eve of Australia Day. In 2010 we are particularly encouraging people to particpate in the process by collecting a nomination form from the Post Office or Information Centres throughout the Shire. The 2009 award winners were Business  of the YearThe Farmers Arms Hotel of Raglan Street Daylesford (www.farmersarmsdaylesford.com.au/ ) - for the general excellence in providing an overall memorable dining experience through their great atmosphere, customer service, fabulous food and well presented and capable staff.  The Farmers Arms is a great supporter of our local community and is well visited by both locals and visitors to the town.

Employee of the Year – Louise Jennings who is the customerrelations officer at the Creswick & District Community Bank Branch. Over the last three years at the bank Louise has contributed to its success by displaying extraordinary customer service skills, genuine interest in the well being of both fellow workers and customers.Her initiative and enthusiasm to her work is excellent.  Louise organised a farmer’s breakfast which attracted approximately 50 participants who enjoyed a great speaker.  The event provided the opportunity for networking for the greater community.

Apprentice of the Year -  Shauna Hannam is the apprentice

chef at the Perfect Drop in Daylesford.  She started off washing

dishes at the Perfect Drop advancing to commence her second

 year of her apprenticeship as a chef.  Nominations stated that she

enjoys working with good produce and is keen to learn about food

and cooking.  She is passionate about food, is dedicated to her job

and to learning.  Shauna is a loyal team member and proud to be

part of a good tea
